R. Kelly is a great modern poet. He skillfully uses captivating free verse and a conversational tone to keep his audience consistently interested. In Trapped in the Closet pt. 9, he sings,
“And then he says move.
She says no.
He says move.
She says no.
BITCH MOVE!!!
She moves!”
As you can see here he uses short lines and repetition to create a staccato effect.
I was reading “Never Give In,” which is a compilation of Winston Churchill speeches, and I found a pretty cool quote:
“History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it”
Oh R. Kelly! Funny how a few lines like that can truly move a person, literally. However, my respect for him as a poet is nonexistant since he does not write most of his songs.
